Increase in capacity for Orbital Print

15/12/2011

Orbital Print Ltd has taken delivery of a four-colour SRA3 litho press in order to increase their capacity and satisfy customer demand.

The Ryobi press, which travelled from its previous home at a printer’s in Frankfurt, is much faster and therefore has a greater capacity than the 32 year old Heidelberg machine it replaces and which Orbital Print inherited when they acquired Minnis Print earlier this year.

The newer machine is also much faster to set-up and run and will therefore provide operating efficiencies and the capacity to handle greater volumes.

Both of Orbital Print’s four colour litho presses are now Ryobi’s allowing their skilled operators to use either, so increasing resilience and flexibility as well as compatibility of plates.

The new press is needed as Orbital Print has grown considerably during the last 18 months. About half of the turnover is generated by their local customer base in Ashford and the surrounding area. The balance comes from Orbital Print’s sister companies within Orbital Marketing Service Group, a benefit not available to independent printers.

Orbital Print’s Ashford-based clients can also benefit from their full-colour digital Xerox presses which are based at its Sittingbourne branch and which are ideal for short print runs of books, manuals, stationery, leaflets and publicity materials.
