Parent support advisers: Practice and impact – spring 2009 builds on the work described in Parent Support Adviser Project Resource Kits 1 and 2 produced by the Training and Development Agency for Schools (TDA). It aims to inspire local authorities (LAs) that have not experienced the benefits of the parent support adviser (PSA) role, to help PSAs and similar professionals continue to develop their role and to capture learning and share emerging practice.

Resource kit 2 looks at the success of the second year of the PSA project and includes a DVD of seven video case studies, one of which captures the views of headteachers and senior LA staff on the effectiveness of the PSA role. It comes with an easy-to-access library of resources on CD ROM, which includes all the resources from resource kit 1.

Resource kit 1 captures learning from the first year of the PSA project and the successful strategies that pilot local authorities adopted in recruiting and training PSAs, as well as approaches PSAs took to deal with the challenges of the role.
